Veterans Service Officers assist DeSoto County residents who served in the military or naval forces of the United States during any war, their relatives, beneficiaries or dependents, to receive from the United States any and all compensation, hospitalization, insurance or other aid or benefits to which they may be entitled.
Veterans Affairs helps veterans and their dependents secure benefits such as GI loans, hospitalization, pensions, disability income and Social Security Benefits. Currently, DeSoto County has one Veterans Affairs representative, Steve Powell.
The Veterans Service Office is in the County Administration Building, 365 Losher Street, Suite 200, Hernando, MS 38632. The office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursdays.
