The office of the Tax Collector is established by Article 5, Section 135 of the Mississippi Constitution. This position is elected for a four year term by the county at large. The Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of taxes on Real Property, Personal Property, Mobile Homes, Automobiles, Motorcycles, Motor Homes, Trailers and Airplanes.

REQUIREMENTS TO TRANSFER A TITLE OR TAG
Bring the following items with you to a Tax Collector office when requesting a Tag or Title transfer:
- Original title (signed by owner or owners as shown on the front)
- Odometer disclosure statement if vehicle is newer than ten (10) years
- Copy of current tag receipt if purchased from individual (to verify no back tax is due)
- New owner or owners must be present to sign title application (unless a notarized power of attorney form is used)
- Proof of Residency (utility bill or other item with home address indicated)
- Window sticker with MSRP for new cars

Seller shall remove license plate from the vehicle and surrender the tag and receipt to the tax collectors office for credit towards another tag or a certificate of credit. No refunds.

TAG MUST BE PURCHASED WITHIN SEVEN (7) WORKING DAYS OF THE PURCHASE DATE TO AVOID PENALTIES
RENEWALS
Vehicle registration (car tags) can be renewed in person at any of the three Tax Collector offices or you can renew ONLINE.
MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSING

TAX SALE
