William E. "Sluggo" Davis
is DeSoto County's Chancery Clerk. The chancery clerk’s primary
duties lie within the chancery court. Elected at large for a four
year term, the chancery clerk is responsible for attending all
sessions of chancery court and keeping all minute books in which
records and directions of the chancellors and proceedings of the
court are kept. However, the Chancery Clerk's responsibilities

The Chancery Clerk's office is located on the first floor of the
DeSoto County Courthouse in Hernando, Mississippi. The
Chancery Clerk's department is divided into Land Records and Court
Records. The Land Records office receives, records and files
documents such as deeds, warranty deeds, etc. The Court
Records office processes all cases heard by the Chancery Court
Chancellors. Both departments record and index documents for
public inquiry. These documents are available for your
